Intacs (Corneal Implants)

Intacs, or corneal implants, are used as a method for overcoming mild cases of myopia. Two plastic ring segments are implanted in the outer layer of the cornea. These rings exert pressure on corneal tissue, altering the shape of the cornea and improving vision in some kinds of visual impairment. Unlike irreversible laser surgery, Intacs are removable.

Lasik Eye Surgery

LASIK eye surgery is a surgical procedure for correcting myopia and astigmatism, and improving vision. A flap on the surface cornea is cut and rolled aside, so the surgeon can use a laser to remove tissue from inside the cornea. The surface flap is then reattached. The procedure takes about 15 minutes.

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)

An alternative type of laser eye surgery in which vision improvement can be achieved, photorefractive keratectomy, or PRK, is used to correct hyperopia and astigmatism, as well as myopia. With PRK surgeries, the laser is used to alter the curve of the cornea over the pupil to change the lens characteristics and improve vision.

Hyperopia Correction

In hyperopia, or farsightedness, the cornea is too flat . The light rays come together at a theoretical point behind the retina, and are therefore out of focus on the retinal surface, causing nearby objects to appear blurry, while distant objects are clearer. Very farsighted patients will report that even distant objects appear blurry. To correct this problem, the laser flattens the peripheral area of the cornea in order to make the cornea more curved. In turn, this allows light rays to focus directly onto the retina for clear vision.

Chin Augmentation

Chin augmentation uses implants to reshape and define the chin area. Incisions are done inside the mouth to eliminate visible scarring.

Facial Implants

Through the use of facial implants, a surgeon can ‘re-sculpt’ a patient’s face to create a desired look. This can correct a receding chin, make cheekbones look fuller and enhance the jaw line, and is sometimes done in conjunction with a facelift.

Forehead Lift

A forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, removes sagging skin caused by aging on the forehead, which lifts drooping eyebrows, and smoothes out furrows and frown lines in the forehead.

Gynecomastia (Male Breast Reduction)

Gynecomastia is a method of eliminating excessive breast tissue and developing a firmer, flatter chest for men. Fat tissue can be surgically removed through an incision under the nipple. Liposuction is often used in this procedure.

Liposuction

Liposuction is not a means of weight loss, but is done to remove fatty deposits and improve body contour. Commonly performed on thighs, abdomen, buttocks and upper arms, a thin tube is inserted to break up fatty tissue and suck it out. A newer type of liposuction uses ultrasound to liquefy fat.

Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

Otoplasty is a surgical technique for correcting protruding ears, in which ears are ‘pinned’ back closer to the head. Otoplasty procedures are often done on children from 4 to 14 years old.

Rhytidectomy (Face-lift)

A face lift tightens aging skin in the face and neck, resulting in smoother skin and the restoration of a more youthful appearance. Excess skin is removed and wrinkles disappear. Face lifts are frequently done in conjunction with other facial surgeries.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)

Through rhinoplasty procedures, a surgeon can ‘sculpt’ the nose according to the patient’s desire. This can mean either reducing or increasing the nose size, removing bumps on the bridge of the nose or narrowing flared nostrils. For some patients, rhinoplasty surgeries are also done to help improve breathing.
