Rhytidectomy (Face Lift)
Face lifts, also called a rhytidectomy, is among the most common of all surgical cosmetic procedures. Tissue under your skin is tightened, while excess skin from your face and neck is removed, leaving you with less wrinkles and a younger appearance. The technical name, rhytidectomy, literally means “wrinkle removal”.
Generally, a face lift involves the surgeon elevating your skin before tightening underlying muscles and other tissue. Excess fat in the face and neck may be sculpted or redistributed, or removed using liposuction. The skin is then replaced over the newly defined contours of your face, excess skin is removed, and the incision is closed.
