Partial Zona Dissection (PZD)
PZD is a micro-manipulation technique, used if a woman’s eggs have a shell which is too hard or difficult to penetrate. The shell of the eggs in some women can be harder than usual, due to a greater accumulation of proteins. Eggs can also harden due to freezing. Miniature PZD surgery, used in conjunction with IVF, involves making a small incision in the egg before the sperm is added, making fertilization more likely.
