Subzonal Insemination (SUZI)
The SUZI technique is a micro-manipulation technique, used if a woman’s eggs have a shell which is too hard or difficult to penetrate. The shell of the eggs in some women can be harder than usual, due to a greater accumulation of proteins. Eggs can also harden due to freezing. SUZI surgery, used in conjunction with IVF, involves making a small incision where sperm is directed into the region between the zona pellucida, the protein shell surrounding the egg.
